🌌Podcast Marketing Tips for Your Sign

Hi hello! Wil Williams back again with a very fun edition of PMM: marketing advice for your astrological sign! For folks in the astrology know, this will be regarding your sun sign. For those outside of the astrology know, hi have a little fun. Just think of your sign here as, idk, your Meyers-Briggs or something.
This week is my 🎂birthdayyyy🎂 which means, yes, I am a Gemini. Sorry/you’re welcome/I know I know I know. The greatest gift you could give me is linking your all-time favorite podcast episode in the comments! I want to listen! Bonus points if you tell me why it’s your favorite.
♈Aries
Aries, don’t be shy about pitching! Your forward-thinking attitude is a great fit for sending emails to fellow podcasters and podcast newsletters about your work. Don’t feel entitled to any responses — but I know if you can keep the mometum up, the numbers game of sending pitches will work out for you.
♉Taurus
Taurus, have you ever considered partnering with a local or independent brand to promote your podcast? I loved Margaritas & Donuts partnering with local dining locales and would love more podcasts to do this — especially if the local business is willing to put out cards or ads for your podcast in kind!
♊Gemini
Hiiiiiiiiiiii 💖🎉💖 I’m tempted to tell you you’re perfect and doing everything so well already but instead I’ll say that you, Gemini, are a great fit for setting up promo swaps and feed drops. Think about which podcasts share the same vibe as yours and see if you can trade ads!
♋Cancer
Cancer, you’re great at following your gut and getting to the heart of things. Take another look at your podcast’s trailer and make sure it’s getting to the heart of your own work. Make sure your trailer is not only explaining your podcast, but also getting people deeply invested before they even subscribe.
♌Leo
Leo, obviously get yourself on some podcasts as a guest. Get out there and 🦁 show off 🦁! Obviously look for podcasts in your same niche . . . but don’t be afraid to look way outside of that, too! Listeners love hearing hosts in different podcasts, and you can always offer to feed drop the interview on your feed to sweeten the deal.
♍Virgo
Virgo, I know you have all your ducks in a row. You’ve got your notes. You’ve got your spreadsheets. You die by Rephonic’s graphs. Stop getting in your own way! Don’t be so afraid of shooting your shot that the ball always stays in your court. Send those emails. Send those pitches.
♎Libra
Libra, you cannot have it all, I’m so sorry. When you market to everyone, you market to nobody. Try surveying your audience to see where you should focus. We both know lots of people will love your work, but we also both know you do not have the time to cultivate a marketing campaign for each entire potential demographic under the sun.
♏Scorpio
Scorpio, let’s talk about guerilla marketing. If your podcast is a good fit for something a little more experimental, leave cryptic clues for your listeners in your social media or in the episode’s wraparound. Make your trailer and promo audio a little cryptic. Dare I say . . . ARG? Lean into your mysterious edge — just make sure they always have a way to find your work in a very clear way.
♐Sagittarius
Sagittarius, focus up! Make sure that your brand identity is clear and defined — and consistent. No changing your title, format, website design, cover design, music, focus every few months or every few years. No starting new projects and not finishing. Commit, and you’ll make something incredible and unique.
♑Capricorn
Capricorn, numbers are not indicators of success. I know it can be tempting to focus only on a number going up, but there’s so much more than that. Does your podcast make you happy, or make you feel fulfilled? Does it reach a grateful audience? Stop looking for ways to trick yourself into thinking you’re not doing enough. A number is just a number.
♒Aquarius
Aquarius, your out-of-the-box thinking can lead to great, unique ideas in your podcasts. Bring some of that energy to your marketing strategies: try collaborating on an episode with a podcast from a different genre or focus. They might not initially see the connection between your shows, but I know you can explain what will make the crossover great.
♓Pisces
Pisces, are your guests really a good fit, or do you just love talking to interesting people? I get it, I promise. But make sure your guests are a good fit for your audience — and then make sure your guests will share their interview! Don’t be afraid/forget to ask them to drop it on their feed, or at least mention it.
