🎙️Using social media for podcast growth feat. Jeffrey Dwoskin
Plus Audio Delicacies 2023 releases so soon I can taste it
Last week, I had the pleasure (and it really was a pleasure because I was in stitches) to chat with Stampede Social’s co-founder Jeffrey Dwoskin (pronounced Dwah-Skin). Stampede Social is a company aimed at helping creators drive traffic to their content without relying solely on a link in their bio. Jeff calls himself, rightly so, the link-in-bio killer. But, he’s more than that. He is a tech entrepreneur, professional stand-up comedian, and host of the podcast Classic Conversations.
Below is a little sneak peek of our conversation on social media and its’ role in podcast growth, plus a discount code for new Stampede Social users. We plan to drop the full conversation on our podcast Feed The Queue soon so stay tuned!
But first, I can barely contain my excitement about…
🤤 Audio Delicacies 2023
On December 4, we’re returning with the most delectable podcast delicacies on our year-end playlist: Audio Delicacies 2023.
After the warm reception and heartfelt support of Audio Delicacies 2022, we’re so pleased to share this year’s playlist with you. Our goal is to recommend shows that may not be included on other year-end or best-of lists. Thanks to contributions from podcast lovers from all corners of the kitchen — producers, hosts, engineers, marketing experts, and more — we’ve created a platter of podcasts for you to sample.
🍴The platter is best paired with a walk, some house cleaning, cooking, sitting on the couch, driving, or however you like to consume audio content.
Please indulge a heartfelt moment from me in admiring Devin, Holly, and Ilana, plus the entire Tink team for working on this. We really hope you’ll enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed creating this!

Now, onto the main event.
🟡 Meet: Jeffrey Dwoskin of Stampede Social
This interview has been edited for clarity and brevity.
What do you think the role of social media should be for podcasters?
I think social media is a vital piece of the toolkit for podcasters. The philosophy I have with it is the same philosophy that someone taught me when I was doing sales.
You keep telling everybody about it.
You've created something you believe in; that you're passionate about. And what you have to believe is – people are always listening, but they're not ready to hear you yet. I don't mean it literally, I just mean hear your message.
Everybody kind of is ready when they're ready. And that's the thing that's hardest to get around no matter what you're doing. You want everyone to be ready for your message when you're giving it to them but that's not always the case. So what that means to me is, and especially when it comes to social media, you have to just keep going.
You have to keep acting like everyone is listening, like they are paying attention, like they care. Talk to them like they're always responding.
What kind of content on social media tends to resonate most with potential podcast listeners? Are there specific formats or themes that consistently perform well?
I think there's no one right way. It's always what is the right combination of all things that can help you. You need to put out engaging content; it needs to grab people's attention, anything that gets them interested.
Depending on the context, you have to push either your guest or the topic itself that you’re talking about. Sometimes, no one may know who your guest is. And I say that with the utmost respect.
One of the cool social media things that's undervalued is Instagram Live. I think because we are and have personalities. Consider having your guest on an IG Live to push your latest episode. It is the closest we can get to what we actually do, which is hit the mic and broadcast. That's but one way to engage.
What nature of content works for independent podcasters or those who are just starting out?
I think one key way that helps and that supports them, and I know you guys are big on this and I'm a big fan of it too, is going on other podcasts. Go on other podcasts, their social media, and talk about what you're good at talking about. You’ll hopefully pick up some listeners along the way.
Based on your observations and data, what future trends do you predict in the relationship between social media and podcasting?
Well, to say AI is generic but I think we're on the cusp of AI. Beyond just creating show notes, we’re moving on to using AI to do deep analysis. When you create, you go on social media and you post and you post. What then? You're creating a lot of data.
This is where you can start to use AI to understand the data. Even something like when is the best time to post? You can look into your own data, which is one of the cool things about Stampede Social. We're just starting to tap into some of the stuff you can do.
For instance, there's a button you can push to analyze all the responses to a social media post. You can dive into who your fans are, or what the people in the comments are saying about how you can get to those other topics that people might be interested in, based on comments.
It's all there right now, and there are ways to do it. But with AI, it will become super easy. Then it's not just a matter of creating content, but also understanding that you're creating data that can then be analyzed. This data can then help you decide things like when to do that creative or what types of creative to do. We're just scratching the surface.

🏃♀️Quick reminder: Speed Pitching
If you’re feeling a little overwhelmed with sending pitches out, we’ve got you covered with our Speed Pitching sessions. Tink launched Speed Pitching as an add-on to our Podcast Therapy offering. We spend one hour flying through our rolodex to pitch you to as many people as we can, with the hopes of quick-booking you on podcasts to talk about your work. I might be biased but hey, it does work!
⭐ More Magic
Spotify might have released its Wrapped, but we are out here thinking about how many minutes this year we dedicated to podcast marketing, in our unique Tink way.
The project AGE OF AUDIO: A Tale of Modern Audio Storytelling is open for funding and worthy of support. This excerpt from their Indiegogo page describes this project better than I can: AGE OF AUDIO pulls the brakes and examines the story of narrative podcasts within the greater scheme of audio storytelling; from its humble indie-radio beginnings to its post-Spotification present.
Lauren shared her 25 Favorite New Podcasts of 2023. (I’m so happy to see my surprise favorite The Redemption of Jar Jar Binks on there woot!)
