Hi! Shreya here ✨ . As we here at PMM always say, making a show is just the tip of the iceberg. The rest of the challenge lies in marketing your podcast, in a creative way. This mostly includes engaging with valuable networking partners like potential collaborators and sponsors.Â
I often get asked what it is that podcasters should actually include in a pitch deck. What this question actually means is – what elements of their story should podcasters actually share, and why?
So, that’s what we’re tackling today.
1: Downloads and Unique Listeners Growth
Start with the basics: your podcast’s downloads and unique listener numbers. These are the foundation of your success story, offering a clear picture of its reach and impact. Highlighting the growth of these figures over time can demonstrate your podcast's upward trajectory and potential for future expansion.
However, these are not enough.
2: Reviews and Personal Testimonials
While numbers can show growth, reviews and personal testimonials add a narrative depth to your pitch. They provide insight into how listeners perceive your podcast and its content. Reviews and testimonials (shared with permission) can dazzle up your pitch, showcasing the engagement of your audience.
3: Success on Socials and Newsletters
Your presence and performance on social media platforms and through newsletters are crucial indicators of your podcast’s engagement and community. Sharing metrics like newsletter open rates, and engagement rates can tell a tale about the community you've built around your content. This also helps share the effectiveness in maintaining an ongoing conversation beyond the podcast itself.
4: Missions and Plans
Beyond the numbers, consider sharing your podcast's mission and future plans. Why did you choose to make this show and why now? What drives your podcast? What are its core values and goals? And perhaps even what do you have planned for the future? This offers potential partners and sponsors a glimpse into the heart of your story, showing not just where your podcast stands today but where it’s headed.
Final words
In crafting that deck, remember that you’re not just sharing numbers and facts. You’re sharing your podcast’s journey, its community, and its future. Make it compelling, make it clear, and make it memorable. This is your chance to shine and secure the partnerships that will help your audience grow.
