Also, I'm definitely taking fewer guests and doing more solo episodes. The solo episodes do just as well, and are 1000% easier to schedule and edit. There's no comparison.

So useful! Let's hope that lots of podcasters are inspired, it will make for a much more interesting landscape! Thank you for sharing (you confirm that the podcast community is generous, I love it!) and have a great podcasting year!

Great advice. Other side of the coin to "asking your guests to drop their interview with you on their own feed if they have a podcast" ... I do like sharing shows when I'm a guest, on the Dating While Gray feed. Might not convert DWG listeners to the other show, but it garners downloads (and comments) for DWG.

Really excellent points - in particular the split episode or 30s trailer feed drops. A much more evolved way of collaborating to get a win-win-win. Loving your work!

Love this article! I've seen a lot of YouTubers do the split episode enticements, not sure why it didn't occur to me to do it with another podcaster. Def on my radar for the year if an opportunity becomes available. As an interview based podcaster, I'm definitely diving into exploring more solo formats and trying some new takes on an interview. Different locations are fun, but also new frameworks for an interview that feel fun. Looking forward to see what podcasters do in 2025!

This was fantastic, thank you. I think I can probably drop BlueSky. :)

It's all about whole-assing the social platforms that you want to actually be on.

What about using Google Form or TypeForm to survey your show’s listeners? Is that effective?

How often would you recommend surveying your audience?

Somewhat relatedly, events. I’m thinking of one for this year, perhaps digital. Where do podcasts usually go wrong trying to execute an event?

You can use Google Forms or Typeform. Google is free. Typeform is not. It's effective if you have the right messaging that gets people to fill out the survey. I linked to an article in that section that is helpful when it comes to surveying, from Tom Webster.

As for events, Catrin Skaperdas is someone to follow on LinkedIn. She's been experimenting with events to grow podcasts.

A lot of great tips shared! Thank you! I guess I should get rid of the microphone now. :)

I am doing more solo episodes this year. When I think about it, it is actually less time consuming and the ROI may be even better. Either way, I am very motivated to make the transition.

What social media content tactics have you seen effective to drive views and subs?

I began doing a 'Sunday Series' where I sum up the most salient takeaways from one of my interviews. I post these to Instagram and Linkedin. I position these takeaway wrap-ups as value-add for the viewer - especially new ones.

Would love to hear what else has been working for other podcasters.
